Open Water DiverLearn the basics of becoming a safe diver. Topics include equipment, water skills, physics, trip planning, physiology & more. Minimum age is 15 for open water diver, and 12 for junior diver. Cost: Group Classes - $225. Private Classes (1-2 students) $350 This is intensive and personal instruction. We have flexible class times to fit your busy schedule. Contact us for more details. Tuition for all open water classes includes student packet, classroom instruction, pool skills & major rental equipment. Classes consist of approximately 8 hours of classroom sessions and 9 hours of pool sessions. Some home study is required and a written exam must be taken prior to performing the open water check out dives. Equipment Requirements - To facilitate maximum skill development and comfort underwater, you will need your own mask, snorkel, fins, boots, mouthpieces and anti-fog solution. Matthews Water Sports has a large selection of quality equipment to fit & tailor to your individual needs. All equipment must be SCUBA quality and must be brought to the first class. Use of all major equipment is included in the Open Water Course fee. Purchasing and using your own equipment will greatly enhance your enjoyment and comfort during the course. Check with your instructor for current student specials being offered by Matthews Water Sports. Open Water Check Out Dives - After successful completion of the academic and pool training, you will need to complete four open water check out dives over a two day period. These will expose you to the actual diving conditions and will further develop your proficiency in open water. The cost for the open water check out is $150 for all four dives and includes the use of major rental equipment for the weekend. The price does not include park admission fees or any travel expenses, if applicable. |
